From Boghcheh to Berber Rugs
Little envelope-shaped square container that nomads from Turkmenistan use to keep small personal objects

Borcialu or Bordjalu Persian rugs
In Iranian Bordjalu specimens, very oriented to Western tastes, the central medallion, with multiple floral patterns, dominates the design of the rug. The subject is usually floral, central medallion, with many floral patterns, the design of the rug dominates and this is sometimes also proposed with the vase pattern of the rug. Boteh or Botè
Egg-shaped decorative pattern, , with the tip bent hook-like. However, there are many variations of boteh which can be found in geometric rugs like Shirvan Marasali, the so-called “Boteh pine cone”, to floral rugs boteh as Kirman, Kashan, Kermanshah, in Turkish rugs, etc.
Bou o Yolami
They are strips of fabric or knotted lin different lenghts for various uses: reinforcements of the yurt, securing the load on animals, etc.). The corresponding Persian is Malband
Originating in the High Atlas. They are characterized by the white background and the softness of the wool, associated with the use of cotton and other fibres by to define the drawings. These, very often, besides following the symbolism of their region, are the result of artistic inspiration of the woman that created them. Therefore every rug can be considered a unique work of art and not reproducible. See Boujad rugs.
Bukara, Bukhara, Bokara o Buhara Tappeti
Coming from Uzbekistan’s city by the same name, formerly the centre of rugs collection produced by the Turkmen tribe of the Salor, Ersari, Tekke, Sharik and Yomut. It is one of the most copied, renowned and famous in the world. The most common subject is based on the “gul” motif that is repeated regularly throughout the field enclosed in a frame of minutely decorated borders; that design’s position has pretty much stayed the same with the passage of the centuries. Nonetheless it remains a timeless, classic rug, easily adaptable even in modern furnishings, as in the classic ones. The production area is between Turkestan, Iran and Afghanistan. Unfortunately they are imitated by Pakistanis and Chinese who ruin its reputation. We hear very often at television auctions of “Bokara” at bargain prices, but usually they are just poor imitations that really are not worth anything.
They are the four designs placed in the corners of the rug which enclose the field. The décor often recalls a quarter of the central medallion. See cantonals

It’s the tapestry or the rug’s design realized onto paper or squared cardboard. In rug jargon it is called gaddy, robby or talim and it is realized onto squared paper, where every single square corresponds to a knot
They were, and still are, knotted in the Caucasus, the region between the Caspian Sea and Black Sea, between Asia and Europe. For hundreds of years in these villages people have knotted rugs with primary colours and simple tribal entities, sometimes childish, as necessities for domestic use, and surely, because of their genuineness this ancient Caucasian rugs have had and still have a considerable success among fans and collectors. In the Shirvan, Baku, Kuba, Daghestan, Talish, Ganjeh, Kazak, and Karabagh areas were produced specimens of considerable charm. Nowadays excellent rugs are still knotted, with wool dyed in the old way, hand spun and natural colours, like our reproductions of antique Caucasians rugs that you can see in the category specifically created. For about ten years, on the market there are rugs called Kazak and Shirvan, names of groups knotted in the Caucasus, made a little everywhere; they are knotted in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, China, etc .; They are rugs that we sell, but because they are not genuine Caucasus we declare the origin, for example, alongside the name Shirvan the name of the country of origin so that the reader does not think are true Caucasians. In my work I have met people who thought they had bought the original and unfortunately they didn’t.
In rug restoration one calls chain or little chain the work done on the headers (fringes) to lock the rugs’ knots. In the loom’s preparation to make a rug it’s made up by the weft and the weave which form the rug’s real structure ,

Chermes, ladybird o coccus ilicis
Oak- tree parasite, the shell of which dried and pulverised is used as a red colour. In Armenia it is called Ordan.
Chichaoua Berber rugs
The more traditional and authentic among the many types of Berber rugs. They are some old manufacture rugs, hand knotted according to the Berber knot’s technique, with raw wool and natural colours. Originally they were used as the floor of the tent by the nomadic tribe Beni Ourain Berber rugs . They are distinguished by the white bottom, the long, soft fleece (5-6 cm) and for the black designs.
