ANTIQUE KASHAN CARPET

Antique Kashan with a red field and a bright blue border, with a rather beaten knot and therefore well dense!

It has an excellent supporting structure with double weft. The piece is completely in fleece and without any sort of restoration. The carpet, knotted with brilliant quality wools, is presented with a perfectly homogeneous fleece and therefore in an excellent state of preservation.

And if you look at it by mistake, it looks like it has glitter, an effect that is hard to find in newly manufactured carpets. If you notice a similar effect in new carpets, it has most likely been knotted with wools mixed with synthetic yarns. An antique carpet finely knotted, in which the two secondary edges that elegantly enclose the soft floral subject on a blue background of the classic main border. The floral subject of the field is full of flowers, but without losing the rug's sobriety. The combinations and the sobriety of the colors are of refined elegance, a true Kashan of a hundred years ago. A carpet that is a work of art destined for settings of a certain importance. Today it is not easy to find antique Kashan carpets in an optimal state of preservation.

Most of the ancient Kashans have little fleece, are dried up and restored. Frequently they have been painted, and where color has been given they are encrusted. Kashan is one of the most famous Persian carpets, it is part of the most ancient and refined tradition. Kashan is a city in central Iran, important for carpet production since the Safavid era. The dominant colors of these carpets are blue and red, obtained from the cochineal. The subject of this delightful 1920s specimen enjoyed Western demands of the time: This influenced the production, adapting it to the socio-cultural-artistic context of the time in the West.

How to do maintenance of this Kashan.

For ordinary maintenance use only the vacuum cleaner. Washing must be carried out with water by a truly specialized company that does not work with automated machines.
