ANTIQUE KERMANSHAH RUG. Beautiful and elegant specimen in excellent condition which, very light, folds like a fabric. The plot is very thick and is free of restoration. A little over 100 km from the border with Iraq and about 500 from Tehran we find ourselves in the province of Kermanshah, known for the rock reliefs Taq-e Bostan, a group of large rock reliefs that from the period of the Sassanid Empire Persian have been well preserved until our days. Medallions, boteh motifs and Herati subjects are frequently used in the carpets of this region, consisting of a flower in the center of a rhombus and four acanthus leaves that surround it, and whose name derives from the city of Herat which is located in Afghanistan North Western. The colors in Kermanshah rugs range from red to old pink, from green to blue, beige, rust and salmon are also widely used.
