The Kilims Karabag are part of rich category of "gol farangh" (French rose) pattern that they spread in Caucasus, as in Persia and Turkey, during the XIXth. Cent. They inspire to the floral subjects of fabrics and European carpets, particularly those of the Savonnerie and Aubusson. The elevated class loved to complete their baroque abodes with these carpets and fabrics considered of elite and besides of high price. So, to oppose the growth of a dangerous competitive importation, manufactures rose, that using materials and traditional techniques, they imitated with the greatest possible precision the elaborate corollas of the European carpets. The floral patterns, even if necessarily stylized, show a certain realism in the configuration, underlined by the use of the colors that remember the tonalities of roses. Particularly taken care of it is also the decoration of borders, where roses and in bloom shoots compose closed garlands. The production of this typology of carpets has disappeared and also exemplary of old manufacture as this, are unobtainable.
