Nain is a small town, to 95 miles from Isfahan, of ancient origins: according to the tradition it was found by one of the children of Noah. It is in effects the principal characteristic of the Nain rugs is given really from the particular technique of knotting, named "garthy", for which the floral patterns are underlined by shining profiles that confer them relief. The colors more used are: blue, nut-brown, cream and red; the silk is usually white and the patterns are traditional: round medallions taken back to the cantonal, floral on the field, edges "herati".
