Nain is a small town, to 95 miles from Isfahan, of ancient origins: according to the tradition it was found by one of the children of Noah. The weaving of the rugs however it is initiated in Nain just for thirties but the ability of the weavers, before employees in the production of thin precious textiles, made the Nain rugs as one of the thinnest rugs of the whole Persia: density is in fact middly inclusive between the 6.000 and the 8.000 knots to the decimetre square. It is in effects the principal characteristic of the Nain rugs is given really from the particular technique of knotting, named "garthy", for which the floral patterns are underlined by shining profiles that confer them relief. The colors more used are: blue, nut-brown, cream and red; the silk is usually white and the patterns are traditional: round medallions taken back to the cantonal, floral on the field, edges "herati".
